Information and Facts about Lake Ponemah - Lakefront King

Lake Ponemah is located in Genesee County Michigan. This, 379-acres natural kettle lake has a maximum depth of around 77 feet and a mean depth of 23 feet with an average elevation of 265 meters above sea level. Anglers  can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill, Black Crappie, some Large and Small mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Sunfish, Walleye and Yellow Perch. It has a DNR public boat launch, a marina and a waterfront restaurant (Spoonz Resturant) with boat dock access.

Lake Ponemah is known not only for its large body of water that connects to Squaw and Tupper lakes,  but, also the wide array of beautiful custom homes on the lake.  From a few thousand sq. feet, to over 8,000 sq. feet, Lake Ponemah have a home for everyone.  You will find yourself pulling up to the restaurant on that perfect evening as the sun sets, remembering why you purchased your home on Lake Ponemah.   • Lake Ponemah can have low impact or less earthquakes, on average one every 50 years, with occurrences at <5 Richter.

  • When an earthquake is present, it may be felt indoors by many people and outdoors by a few people during the day. At night, many people may be awakened.

  • Flooding risk is medium-high.

 Weather

  • July is warmest with an average temperature of8 °C at noon. January is coldest with an average temperature of -9.8 °C at night.

  • Lake Ponemah has distinct cold and warm seasons, like cold winters and warm summers. Temperatures drop sharply at night.

  • Winter has prolonged freezing periods, with the coldest month most often being January. July is on average the month with more sunshine. Rainfall and other precipitation have no distinct peak month.

 Nature

  • Lake Ponemah has a humid (> 0.65 p/pet) climate. The land area is cultivated, still some natural vegetation is preserved.

  • Climate is classified as a humid continental –humid in severe winters and no dry season with a cool temperate moist forest Biozone.

  • The soil in the area is high in Luvisols and Cambisold (types of sub-boreal soils)
